11 months

11 months Eliel turned 11 months old today. He spent the day doing what he does best: playing. :) Some of his favorite toys include his activity cube, blocks, books and of course a spoon and metal bowl. Eliel now loves playing upstairs because he can crawl between his room and Mommy & Daddy's room. Distance makes no difference anymore! This little guy is on the move. He can easily maneuver his walker to get where he needs to go. He still has a little trouble trying to climb the stairs but that is usually because he's trying to do it too fast. We still need to work on going down. Adam and I laugh when he walks because he's so small but moves so fast. As Adam said earlier, he walks like C3PO but sounds like R2D2! :P Eliel has also discovered that he can protest when he doesn't like something. His latest thing is to get down on the floor on all fours, put his head to the ground and cry. At first I tried to help him but I quickly figured out that if I i

First Family Vacation

Last week we took our first official family vacation to St. Louis. We chose it because it was a relatively short drive and there are a lot of family friendly activities to do in St. Louis. It was a good choice because although the weather was nice, it was quite warm some days and being able to choose between indoor and outdoor activities was nice. One of the first things we did was visit the Arch. Eliel had been dying to see it ever since we drove into the city and he saw it from the highway. We made a decision to try and go early to avoid crowds and it worked out really well. We didn't have to wait at all except for a few minutes for the elevator to arrive. Once inside the elevator (which was so tiny we barely all fit!) it was a short 4 minute ride 600+ feet to the top. Hiking part 2

As I said before, one of our favorite places to hike is Matthiessen state park. We've even taken Nugget there before we had kids. As you'll see in the pictures below, Matthiessen is basically hiking in a creek bed but the views and actually trail is so much more fun that simply walking on a set path. The kids had an absolute blast. We even let Aldo out for a few minutes to play! See Adam & Eliel across the pond? Touching the waterfall Family selfie! After Matthiessen, some parts of Starved Rock hiking was boring for Eliel since there wasn't much to 'do'. We took a river trail to find a waterfall and he was 'bored' for most of it. We did see some amazing canyons on our hikes though and since we went during the week, we were usually the only ones there. I've heard it's not like that on the weekends. Family selfie! We had some amazing views and some amazing memories.
