Hanging around the Quad Cities

Sunday was originally supposed to be really hot but the clouds filled in and it stayed nice and cool.  Kind of put a damper on us going to a water fountain park for the kids to play in though!  Instead we did some exploring around the Quad Cities.

We started off at the Davenport Skybridge which used to connect a parking garage to a casino.  The casino is vacant but the bridge still is there.  The kids liked running up and down it and as you can see, no one else was there so it was even more fun.  Downtown Davenport (as with most of the cities) was pretty dead on Sunday.  Many things were also closed on Monday which made things somewhat tricky.

While Aldo napped that afternoon, Adam and Eliel went to the John Deere & Co. Headquarters.  They had an impressive display of equipment that Eliel was able to climb on and touch.  Plus, since he was by himself, he loved all the attention!  Adam was in awe of the architecture of the building which was designed by Aero Saarinen.  Aero's son's name is Eliel! :)

We finished off the day with some yummy BBQ takeout and a dip in the pool!  Great fun!
