As I said before, one of our favorite places to hike is Matthiessen state park. We've even taken Nugget there before we had kids. As you'll see in the pictures below, Matthiessen is basically hiking in a creek bed but the views and actually trail is so much more fun that simply walking on a set path. The kids had an absolute blast. We even let Aldo out for a few minutes to play!

After Matthiessen, some parts of Starved Rock hiking was boring for Eliel since there wasn't much to 'do'. We took a river trail to find a waterfall and he was 'bored' for most of it. We did see some amazing canyons on our hikes though and since we went during the week, we were usually the only ones there. I've heard it's not like that on the weekends.

We had some amazing views and some amazing memories. These little guys were troopers and behaved better than we could have asked for. Can't wait to do it again soon!
