Kenosha

With the weather continuing to be less than spring like, we decided we needed a quick little getaway so we headed up to Kenosha, Wisconsin.  We started our trip stopping at Choo Choo Charlie's for lunch.  In addition to the restaurant having many trains running around the perimeter, your food got delivered by train as well!  The boys were so stoked when that happened!  They were both a little leery of Charlie, the big dog walking around the restaurant, but I can totally empathize with not liking people in costumes! ;)

Loving' the trains

Hey Charlie!

After lunch, we headed over to the Dinosaur Discovery Museum.  It's not huge but was perfect for our little guys.  They had a blast checking out all of the fossils, skeletons and even got a chance to dig for bones like a real archaeologist. Kenosha also had two other museums, the Public Museum and the Civil War museum.  We also checked out the Public Museum which was a natural history museum.  The kids enjoyed seeing a real mammoth skeleton which was found right in Kenosha as well as lots of hands on activities involving animals and plants that occur in our area.

Finally, before leaving we checked out the lake.  While it was very cold, it was fun to see.

The hardest part of the day was getting everyone to look at the camera for a picture! Oh well!  It was a great little getaway and hopefully the weather will cooperate soon so we can do some outdoor activities!
