Last Day of Kindergarten

Today was Eliel's last day of kindergarten.  I'm not quite sure where the year went but it's over already.  Eliel had matured so much over the course of the year that even as a teacher, I was quite surprised to see the changes.

When he started the year, he knew all of his letters and could count.  He could write his first name, but not his last.  He was shy, timid and preferred playing by himself.  I thought he asked a lot of questions then but I had no idea what was in store for us!

Now that he has finished the year, Eliel had grown by leaps and bounds.  He loves learning and can read books on a second grade level.  He can count until you make him stop and can complete simple addition and subtraction problems.  He is a social little boy who loves playing make-believe and 'reenacting' ideas or situations he's read about.  He asks questions about EVERYTHING.   He wants to know how everything works, why everything happens and where everything is.  Now that he can read, it's easy to tell him to go find the answers on his own.

He had a wonderful year with an absolutely amazing teacher.  We couldn't have asked for anything more and are so proud of the little man he is becoming!  Here's to finishing kindergarten and starting new again next year in first grade!
