School's Out

Obviously, the school year ended in a way no one could have guessed.  What is usually a happy day filled with yearbook signing, smiling faces and hugs from teachers was reduced to two zoom calls, a Zumba dance, and lackluster 'owl hoot' at 3:30 in the hopes that someone nearby could hear you.

Nonetheless, we now have a second grader and a second year preschooler!

Aldo ended school on May 12th and on the 13th, we drove through a pickup line at school to pick up his remaining items.  His wonderful teachers were there to greet him with signs and smiles.  It truly made his day and was a great way to bring some closure to the year for him.

Eliel had a virtual picnic with his class on the last day of school.  It sorta broke my heart to see him eating and zooming with his class but at least he was able to 'see' them one last time all together.  His teacher shared something she'll remember about each and every one of them and they all patiently listened.  (I may have cried).

At 3:25, almost the end of school, the entire school (over 385 families) Zoomed together and did a Zumba dance with the principal.  It was so crazy it was fun!

At 3:35, the end of the school day, everyone was supposed to go outside and shout 'Hoot Hoot Hooray' at the top of their lungs so friends close by could hear each other.  Eliel, being Eliel, chose to just listen for his friends and surprisingly, we could hear a few.  It was an anti-climatic end to a very unique school year, so technically it fit. :)
So here's to putting this year behind us and looking forward to a fun filled summer and the return of school in the fall. (We hope!)
