Hanukkah

Since we celebrate both Hanukkah and Christmas, Eliel has been bombarded with holiday traditions the last few days.  And as you would expect, he is loving all of them!  One of his favorite things to do is watch Daddy light the Hanukkah candles.  He points at them and says, 'hot'!  But loves to watch them burn as he eats his dinner.  I think his second favorite holiday tradition right now (besides opening presents) is the advent calendar.  Ours is a tree and for each day, you add an ornament to the tree.  Eliel loves seeing what new ornament there is every day.  I think he's going to be very upset when the holidays are over!

For Hanukkah, we had a brunch celebration this year.  It's a refreshing change from all the holiday dinners around this time of year and Adam loves to eat breakfast so he pretty much begged for brunch.  Eliel ate his first bites of potato pancakes which were homemade by Uncle Hal.  After eating, we all got to watch Eliel open presents.  He's not the type of kid that rips it open and sees what's inside.  No.  Eliel likes to rip small pieces of paper off and walk to the garbage to put each piece in before returning to continue opening the present.  It took about five minutes to open his first gift.  But once he did, he was so excited!  He received a MegaBloks racing set.  (Eliel and Daddy are actually in the other room building it as I write this!)  He also received some little trucks and Star Wars pajamas from Grandma!  Now all I have to do is find Daddy some Star Wars pajamas so they can match! ;)
