1 month old

Okay so I thought time went fast with Eliel, but things are really flying by the second time around with Aldous!  I can't believe he is one month old already.  I'm seriously going to blink and both my kids are going to be in high school.

Aldous is doing well and growing like a weed.  At his doctor's appointment today, he weighed a whopping 10 pounds, 9 ounces putting him in the 60th percentile for weight.  He's 21 3/4 inches tall which is the 50th percentile and his head measures at the 81st percentile.  No wonder this little guy has started sleeping 4 hours at a time at night! (hallelujah!)  This is so different from my little E who was only 9 pounds, 11 ounces at his one month appointment.  It will be fun to see if Aldo stays bigger than Eliel or if eventually they get closer in size.  They both definitely seem to take after Adam in their height though!

Unfortunately, Aldous has also been suffering from infant acid reflux.  Not only does he tend to spit up a lot, and sometimes even projectile vomit, but he screams and cries after he burps and is in obvious discomfort.  I can handle the spitting up but I hate seeing him in pain and not being able to help in any way.  It also causes him to wake up from sleeping too  after only 15 minutes.  (Definitely not fun for Mommy and Daddy!)  It's a fairly recent thing and luckily, at the doctor today, he was prescribed a medication that will hopefully help to neutralize the acid in his stomach and help with the pain.  I was a little reluctant to get the medication but the only other option was to wait and see if it clears up soon.  Hopefully, this will be a temporary medication and he will outgrow the reflux soon!  He just started taking the medication today so I will have to let you know how it works!

Aldous is starting to see much better and can turn his head to look at objects, especially if they make noise.  He also recognizes some voices, especially Daddy's and Eliel's.  It's so sweet to watch Aldo try and find Adam when he hears his voice when Adam comes home from work.  I can't wait for Aldo's first smile which is hopefully coming soon!  That's when the real fun begins! :)
