Eliel was treated to a tractor ride from Uncle Steve as well as getting to drive his pick up truck! He absolutely loved getting to move some sand from the sand pile using the tractor. Even though there's not a smile on his face, he's loving every minute of it. As he told me later, he had to concentrate on what he was doing. I unfortunately didn't get to see it firsthand as I was feeding Aldo but luckily Adam captured it for all of you to see!
Uncle Steve and Aunt Paula also have lots of gardens with various vegetables in them and Eliel couldn't wait to show me the potatoes he dug up for dinner one day or the cucumber he picked right off the vine. He was extremely proud to show me the bag of green beans he picked for us to take home!
While we were up there, we also visited a blueberry farm to pick blueberries. This was a great year for it and the blueberries were delicious. Eliel began picking very well as the bushes were just the right height for him. However, once we told him that you could sample a few blueberries as you ate them, well, it was all over from there. I don't think anymore blueberries made it into his bucket. In fact, I think he began taking them out of his bucket and eating those as well. He easily ate way more than he picked! The look on his face as he ate them was priceless! (kind of looks like Adam when he's enjoying food!)
In between all the fun activities, Eliel spent much of his time watching the birds at Aunt Paula's bird feeders. He would find a bird in the binoculars and then had to find the match in the bird book (or ask someone to find the match for him!).\ We did this for easily a few hours. While watching birds, we even saw a deer and her baby eating behind the house! (It's kind of hard to see in the picture though.)
We had a wonderful weekend and it was so nice to spend some relaxing time with family we don't get to see very often. Eliel has already asked when we're going back up again! I'm sure it will be again soon but we need to give Aunt Paula and Uncle Steve some time to recover from our craziness! :)
