Balboa Park & Sunset Cliffs

Our final day in San Diego was spent in two different locations with nap time in the middle!

We first set out for Balboa Park which is a huge cultural park in San Diego.  It's filled with museums of all kinds, walking paths, gardens and fountains.  Eliel wanted to visit the park because there is a bridge (the Balboa Bridge) that is named in a song he likes.  We went over it and under it so he was quite happy.  The park is a gorgeous space and we spent a few hours walking around and checking it all out.

One of my favorite memories from our first trip to San Diego was taking Eliel to the tide pools.  So, I was looking forward to doing it again.  This time, we chose to check out the tide pools at Sunset Cliffs.  Luckily, the low tide was just before sunset so this made for an absolutely gorgeous excursion and perfect ending to our vacation!  We climbed down some rocks with the boys and were able to see some crabs, sea anemones, hermit crabs, snails and small fish.  We even caught a glimpse of a seal off the coast!  After playing and exploring for awhile, we got back in the car and headed further south towards the point.  There was a fantastic beach with tide pools down below us and we ended up sliding down a fixed rope to get there but it was totally worth it!  Eliel enjoyed collecting seashells we finally found and throwing pebbles into the ocean.  Aldo had to stay in the carrier because we didn't trust his unstable feet on the rocks!  The sunset was beautiful and we were treated to some amazing sites!

The trip was amazing and I'm so glad we were able to take it.  The travel and luggage we had to take with was a lot but in the end, it was totally worth it.  This little family of ours just keeps getting more fun! :)  Can't wait for our next adventure!
